History of Art Courses 2025-26
The next course will cover the art of the Baroque in the 17th Century, examining the work of individual artists. We will be looking at the painting, sculpture and architecture of the era, considering social and historical context, as well as how styles evolve and change. The course will include artists such as Caravaggio, Bernini, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Rubens, Gentileschi, Van Dyck, Wren etc. No prior knowledge of Art History is needed.
I plan to hold two terms – each eight weeks long, this Autumn and next Spring. The autumn sessions will take place in October and November. The Spring sessions will take place in January through to early March. Each session will last 1 hour 30 minutes.
The classes are held in the upstairs room at Batheaston New Village Hall, on Monday mornings and afternoons at 10am and 2.30pm. I will be following the same course, both mornings and afternoons – so it is possible to switch between the two (numbers allowing) if needed.
At present the courses are fully subscribed, however, contact me by email at loweinbath@gmail.com if you are interested, I will keep your details and let you know as and when places are available.
